Usually, people want their dog walked for two reasons:
To potty and so they’re not crazy in the house. So... a calm dog.
In order to get a calm dog, we need to drain energy, and dogs have 2 kinds: Physical and Mental. A walk needs to drain not just physical energy, but also mental energy.
We do that by applying a structure to the walk.
What does structure look like? Rules and boundaries, like: walk at my pace, pay attention to me and not the squirrel, walk next to me or behind me, follow my direction. By giving the dog things to think about, we’re challenging the mind and draining energy.Â
I always tell clients, you can be exhausted by running a marathon or by doing your taxes. A structured walk is like doing your taxes on a treadmill.
THE DIFFERENCE
Anyone can hold a leash. Not everyone can read what's on the other end of it.
A stressed dog on a walk isn't "getting exercise", they're rehearsing the same anxious, reactive patterns every single day. A calm dog on a walk is building the kind of trust and stability that changes how they behave at home, too.
That's the gap between an average dog walker and someone who understands dog psychology. I've spent my career in the second category, as an official trainer with Training Cesar's Way, on tour with Cesar Millan and behavior consultant on his show for two seasons.
WHAT IS DOG PSYCHOLOGY?
Dog psychology is understanding how dogs think and behave with each other, humans and the world. Through energy and body language, we can communicate in a way that is natural to them. And when we approach dogs through their understanding first instead of ours (like obedience commands), we can develop incredible relationships based on trust, respect, understanding and love. Obedience becomes second nature when you have that kind of relationship because your dog wants to follow your direction.
PROOF, NOT PROMISES
I built a dog walking and training business in Long Beach once already. Trots Dogs Est. 2009. We were walking packs of dogs all over Long Beach. Then I sold it in 2021 to travel and work with dog owners and trainers all over the country.
Now I'm building it again, on camera, documenting every step because I want to show dog professionals exactly what I teach in Lead Academy (my online coaching program for dog pros) actually works in the real world, not just in theory.
Plus, I’m ready to settle down again in my hometown. What can I say? I went to every corner of this country, but nothing compares to the LBC. I love it and I’m here to stay. Long Beach is my home.
So, if you want to be part of it, now is your chance!

Calm. Confident. No chaos, no dragging, no reactivity.
I don't train obedience commands. I provide leadership. The kind your dog can feel, not just the kind they obey. That's the difference between a dog who behaves because they’re told to and a dog who behaves because they trust who's leading them. I’m not an “alpha” or “dominant”, I’m calm, confident guidance and I will put a stop to unwanted behavior.Â
The power of dog psychology is in the understanding of how dogs communicate and how to regulate yourself so the dogs truly trust in your guidance. Dogs don’t follow instability. They only follow calm confident energy. I want every dog with me to feel safe and content. That’s a freedom every dog deserves.Â
